Scientific Officer - Histology

Salary from £22,100 - £37,100pa (depending on experience)

 

A Scientific Officer is sought to join a busy and expanding department that provides routine histological services including immunohistochemistry, immunofluoresence, frozen sectioning and special stains to the research groups within the Institute.  Applicants should have a degree or equivalent in a directly relevant subject and up to date knowledge and experience in all aspects of histology and an ability to work with minimal supervision.

Scientific Officer - Bioinformatics

Salary Scale £22,1000 - £37,100

Applications are invited for a full-time position within an expanding team of bioinformaticians. We are looking for candidates skilled in biological modelling and data analysis that enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary environment and can provide support in solving complex biological problems related to cancer genetics.

Required Skills:

  • Ideally you will have a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, applied mathematics, or an equivalent subject; or a relevant post-graduate degree and significant experience in biomedical research or modelling biological systems (2 years minimum).
  • Working knowledge of R and other relevant environments (for example MATLAB, Bioconductor, Virtual Cell, little ‘b' and programming languages (for example Java, Perl, C++, Fortran).
  • Strong Linux/Unix experience.
  • Problem-solving and multi-tasking capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
