Senior Group Leaders
Senior Group Leaders are critical to the success of the Institute and only candidates of the highest scientific calibre are considered for these posts. Typically Senior Group Leader posts will be for ongoing research programmes and can be filled either by direct external recruitment or internally through promotion of Junior Group Leaders.
Senior Group Leaders are subject to Quinquennial Review and are expected to maintain their research efforts at outstanding or world-class in order to secure ongoing support and funding.
Junior Group Leaders
We are also always keen to hear from postdoctoral research scientists who are ready for that next important step in their research career, who wish to develop their own independent research programme and who can demonstrate scientific leadership gained from collaborative working and the potential to successfully supervise and manage a team of research scientists. Working in close collaboration with Cancer Research UK and the University of Glasgow's Institute of Cancer Sciences, a group leader position at the Beatson Institute provides a platform to develop your research and collaborate with fellow researchers to 'beat cancer sooner'.
Junior Group Leaders are typically offered a 7-year contract, with tenure review for a Senior Group Leader position after 5-6 years.
