Machine Learning in Cancer

Dr Crispin Miller

Starting Salary from £31,604 to £41,929 (Depending on experience) plus relocation allowance where appropriate
Initial 3 year fixed term contract (with possibility of up to 2 year extension)

A postdoctoral position is open in the newly established Computational Biology laboratory of Dr. Crispin Miller. Dr Miller's laboratory conducts cutting-edge research that exploits genomics data to ask how changes to the cancer genome impact upon tumour growth and maintenance.

We are seeking a highly-motivated scientist to apply machine learning approaches to identify patterns in alternative splicing, and to ask how these are changed in tumours.

A relevant PhD, previous experience working with machine learning algorithms and coding in a mathematical environment such as R, are essential. Significant knowledge of cancer biology, genomics and analysis of 'omics data are desirable, but not a pre-requisite: applicants with strong computational skills and a desire to apply these to critical questions of cancer biology are encouraged to apply.

For informal enquiries please email Dr Crispin Miller at

At the Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute, we are committed to increasing the number of female scientists at this level and strongly encourage female applicants to apply. We have recently introduced a highly attractive, innovative maternity policy, which includes providing a postdoc with support and funding so that their projects can continue during their maternity leave.

Closing Date for all applications: 03 May 2019
