The Beatson Institute in Glasgow is one of Europe’s leading cancer research centres. It is core funded by Cancer Research UK and supports leading research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. The Beatson Institute provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the art core services and advanced technologies.
We have an exciting opportunity for a generalist Human Resources Advisor to support the Institute’s busy HR function.
Ideally, you will be an early career HR practitioner who has an enthusiasm for learning, and who wants to gain or expand their experience in a generalist HR role.
The successful candidate will work as part of a small but dynamic HR team to support HR activities within the Institute. This will include a wide range of functions including recruitment, induction, immigration, payroll administration, learning and development, HR system management and reporting. There will also be an opportunity to participate in, or lead, HR projects offering your ideas to improve our HR service.
The Institute employs over 300 staff comprising academic research scientists, research services support staff and administration support. In addition, the Institute also supports about 40 PhD students and 50 associated research staff.
Candidates will ideally be CIPD qualified, preferably with some generalist HR experience, although training will be provided for graduates who can demonstrate a real willingness to learn. Experience with MHR Itrent software or similar would be an advantage. To succeed in this role you will need to be very well organised, with excellent IT and communication skills.
